Practice Begins Oct. 16:
Iron Rangers Trade Lackey for Sullivan

The Marquette Iron rangers announced today that they have worked out a
trade with the Green Bay Bobcats brining Jerry Sullivan to Marquette in
return for Carl Lackey's contract.

Former All American
Sullivan, now residing in Houghton, is a former Michigan Tech All-American
and he left the Green Bay organization last year over a salary squabble.
He was the leading Bobcat scorer at the time of his departure.

Lackey had accepted a teaching position in Green Bay this fall, thus
allowing President Dewey St. Cyr and Jim Van Essen, owner of the Bobcats to
settle on a trade of contracts.

Sullivan, a hard-skating center man is expected to take over where
high-scoring Bobby Cox left off. He was rated the Most Valuable player in
the USHL five years ago while wearing the silks of the Green Bay Bobcats.

In 1964 Sullivan coached and played with a team in the Finnish National League.
He returned to Green Bay after a two-year stay abroad until he quit the team
mid-season last year.

Sullivan is now attending Northern Michigan University as he works towards
a doctor's degree.

Tryouts Slated
The Iron Rangers will open practice Monday, Oct. 16 and anyone wishing
to try out for the club is welcome to attend the sessions. Most positions are
up for grabs and officials predict alot of new faces in the Iron rangers' lineup
when they play their opening game.

"Every player who tries out will be given at least a one-week tryout before being cut," Coach Leonard (Oakie) Brumm said.

St. Cyr is dickering with other clubs and several important trades are on the drawing
board, it was stated by team officials.
